A BOURNEMOUTH man will be stepping into the ring next month to take on celebrity fighter Alex Reid.

Bricklayer and professional fighter Sam Boo will go head-to-head against Alex in a Channel 5 televised Mixed Martial Arts middleweight bout on December 1.

Married father-of-two Sam is a bricklayer by day and moved from London to Bournemouth two years ago.

He walks into the fight with a professional record of 5-7-0 and will be looking to establish his name by challenging Reid at BAMMA 11 in the biggest fight of his career.

Sam said: “I may have only been fighting for a couple of years professionally but already I’ve had almost as many fights as Alex and I’m young and in peak physical condition. The fact Alex takes the fight against me rather than a bigger name shows he’s not got it anymore – and I welcome the opportunity to come in as the underdog and beat him up. I’d love nothing more than to put him in his place on national TV.”

Alex, who hit the headlines after getting together with Katie Price and going on to win Celebrity Big Brother, has a 12-year mixed martial arts career and has a record of nine wins, nine losses and one draw.

He said: “It’s been a long time and I’m itching to get back to fight again at BAMMA. First and foremost I’m a fighter. It’s always been at the heart of what I do.”

The fight will be broadcast live from Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena.
