AN East Dorset man died after plunging from a sixth floor balcony at a Butlins resort in Bognor Regis on Saturday.

Timothy Wall, aged 23, fell about 60ft from the balcony of the Wave Hotel in the early hours.

Mr Wall, from St Leonards, had been drinking in the hotel’s bar before the tragedy happened at 1am.

Mr Wall, who worked at Sainsbury’s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

He leaves behind girlfriend, Liz Weiland, and a devastated family.

A spokesman from the resort said: “There was a very sad incident where a man fell from the sixth floor balcony of a hotel on the complex.

"Our sympathies are with his family after this shocking incident.”

Mr Wall, who loved drum and bass music, was a doting uncle to his nephew, and he had also once competed in a Tough Guy race.

The death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious.

Detective Inspector Jim McKnight from Sussex CID added: “At the moment we do not know what happened. But this incident is not being treated at suspicious.”

A South Coast Ambulance spokesman added: “We were called to Butlins shortly before 1am to reports a man had fallen six storeys from a balcony.

"We sent three ambulances but sadly he was pronounced dead at the scene.”

sorry to hear this, but why were 3 ambulances needed? Thats alot of money spent for 1 person who was injured? Or are the cut backs so bad that ambulances only have a bit of equipment on each. Also 6 storey high building on a holiday camp where people drink and drink and drink! it was gonna happen one day, my condolences go out to the family though

Tricky!!?? are you a parent??? if this was your son/partner/brother, would you not take comfort within the fact that the best was provided. maybe you should give the family time to grieve before you decide he had it coming..

Firstly, my sincere condolences to the family and friends of Timothy Hall. And thoughts also for the emergency services who dealt with this terrible accident.
When a life is in danger, I'm not sure that finances come into it 'tricky2007.' Three ambulances = six emergency service staff. I suspect that the first pair of staff to arrive at the patient requested back-up to help with CPR and with moving the patient to hospital - definitely more than a two man job, one would imagine!

i did not mean any disrespect i asked a question! If there is a logical reason then someone tell me what it is, he was pronounced dead at the scene according to the write up, i just asked why 3 ambulances, if this is the norm and needed every time then no problem, if it is because of cut backs then thats wrong as maybe lives are lost because of it, dont get how that is rude, and yes i am a parent so if 3 were sent because there was not enough equipment/staff in one ambulance then i am very concerned.

to many people jump to conclusions just because it said tim was in butlins! you just assume it was drink related!! you never heard of accidents happen without having a drink inside you!!!

oh my goodness... does it really matter if he'd had a few or not?! he was on holiday clearly after all!! At the end of the day a man with family and friends and a girlfriend lost his life here, Jesus!... does that mean he deserved it if he'd been drinking but not if he hadnt. Some people need to get a grip here. Thoughts are with his loved ones x

I too was there, staying on 5th floor just along from where this occurred, when we arrived back all ambulances etc were there, and can only say they tried so hard to save him. It was so tragic, and left us devastated, our hearts and thoughts go out to his family and friends, and also to the butlins staff and people that witnessed the events when they occurred. R.I.P young man
