THE mayor of Bournemouth has returned home after a fall at a Bournemouth gym.

As reported in the Daily Echo, Cllr Phil Stanley-Watts was using the gym training room at the Littledown Centre when he suffered a fall and was rushed to the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, on Wednesday, November 7.

A council spokesman said the mayor was now recovering at home, following a minor surgical procedure.

He would return to official duties on Monday, November 26, but would be on light duties until the New Year, with the deputy mayor, Cllr Chris Rochester, covering the majority of mayoral engagements.

Cllr Stanley-Watts said: “I wish to thank everyone who looked after me from the time of my fall to my discharge from hospital and those who have send me ‘get well’ wishes. I look forward to being back to my mayoral duties in the New Year.”
