A GRAND Charities Fair organised by the Wimborne in Bloom committee has raised more than £5,000 for good causes.
The event, which was held in the Allendale Centre last weekend, has been heralded as a tremendous success, with charities including Cat’s Protection, the British Red Cross, MacMillan Cancer Re-search and Leukaemia Educating and Fundraising benefiting.
Chair of the committee Anthony Oliver said that the fair had been visited by around 700 people.
“We hope that it gave the various charities and organisations represented an opportunity to show off their wares and publicise themselves,” he said.
Wimborne in Bloom itself raised more than £1,100 thanks to Barclays Bank, who matched the amount raised.
The committee’s next fundraising event is a coffee morning that will take place today at 34 Park Lane from 10am until noon.
