Poole council still hung after Branksome East by-election

There is no political change at Borough of Poole following the results of the Branksome East by-election.

The council remains hung following the election of Conservative candidate Jane Thomas, following the resignation of fellow Tory Stephen Rollo-Smith earlier in the year.

She polled 553 votes in Thursday's by-election, Liberal Democrat Jenny Paton had 254, Peter Portnoi of Poole People had 245, Diana Butler of UKIP 132, Labour candidate Hazel Malcolm-Walker 104, and William Kimmet of the British National Party 28.

The official turnout was 27.58 per cent. There are 21 Conservative, 18 Liberal Democrat and 3 Poole People members.
