A RETIRED architect who was left fighting for his life after being injured as he crossed a road in central Poole is out of danger.
John Fletcher, 77, right, of Market Street, Poole, was hit by a car near the junction of West Street and New Orchard on the evening of Saturday, October 27.
He was taken to Poole Hospital before being transferred to Southampton General Hospital in a critical condition.
The junction where the collision took place was changed last year in preparation for the opening of Poole’s Twin Sails Bridge, and some locals believe a pedestrian crossing should have been installed.
Mr Fletcher, who was in intensive care at Southampton General, has now been transferred back to Poole Hospital, where his condition is described as “stable”.
