Christchurch organisation exists to help young people
4:00pm Saturday 27th October 2012 in News By Andy Martin
Christchurch Activities for Young People exists to support young people who have few opportunities in life and who have deprived circumstances.
The group helps them improve their self-esteem and emotional health.
CAYP is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company run by and for members of the local community.
It reaches 500-plus young people and their families a year and aims to provide positive opportunities so that they may grow and develop in an environment which is structured, safe and fun.
Young people are encouraged to make choices and help plan and shape the programmes they offer.
There is a big gap in other service provisions in the area and by offering activities young people ask for they hope to fill that gap.
A donation of £10 could provide a young person with an activity session building confidence, £25 could provide a young person with a day’s challenging activityand £100 could provide a young person with a two-night respite trip away from home.
