IMMIGRATION officers have uncovered five Bangladeshi men working illegally in two Indian restaurants.
Mint in Poole’s fashionable Ashley Cross was targeted following a tip-off and officers found four men, aged between 25 and 41, all of whom were in the UK illegally after their visas expired.
The UK Border Agency team also went to Indi’s in Seamoor Road in Westbourne where a 37-year-old man working in the kitchen was also found to have overstayed his visa.
All were arrested and taken to police stations in Bournemouth and Weymouth. They are now in immigration detention awaiting removal from the country.
Kenny Chapman, of the UK Border Agency, said: “Employers who take on illegal workers are both fuelling illegal immigration and undercutting businesses which play by the rules. The UK Border Agency is determined to stamp out abuse of the immigration system.
“We want the public to contact us if they have any information on businesses or people who are breaking immigration law.”
