FANCY yourself as the next David Guetta or Fatboy Slim?

Or perhaps you imagine yourself more as the new Howard Donald from Take That.

Whatever your preference, a unique course to be offered at BAMM, the Bournemouth Academy of Modern Music, could be just what you're looking for.

The college is the first in the south to offer the new DJ Skills BTEC, a two-year, full-time course due to start in September.

Post-GCSE students will work alongside reigning world champion scratch-DJ Xrated at BAMM's new location in the studios and teaching rooms at Wallisdown-based Absolute Music.

The course is aimed at teenagers who want to work in the music industry and plans are under way to establish links with major music venues in the area to provide performing opportunities.

BAMM Principal Rob Birchall said: "The course will launch in September with 20 places and it is an entirely new concept we have come up with.

"There is a lot of work in this field and we would expect most of our students to be working by the time they finish the course."

The course covers all aspects of the DJing industry, from mixing and mastering, to business skills and performance, and is taught by music industry professionals and expert lecturers, including the award-winning Xrated, also known as Steve Philp.

Registration is open now for the course and pupils or parents interested in studying Music after GCSEs are invited to attend BAMM's next open day on January 31.

Visitors will get the chance to meet tutors and to look around the teaching rooms and studios at Absolute Music.
