A MAN has suffered serious injuries after a two car crash at Longham Bridge.

Emergency services were called to the collision at Ringwood Road around 2pm today.

The incident involves a white van and a silver BMW car on the road between Bear Cross and Ham Lane.

The BMW was travelling towards Bear Cross when the collision took place.

PC Shaun Ferguson said: "For reasons unknown the BMW failed to negotiate the left turn as it as travelling towards Bear Cross.

"The white van was travelling in the opposite direction towards the Longham double roundabout and they have been involved in a collision.

"The driver of the silver BMW was initially unconscious however he did regain consciousness and was taken to Poole Hospital.

"His injuries are serious but not life-threatening.

"The male driver of the white van was complaining of chest pains and was taken to Royal Bournemouth Hospital."

The road reopened just before 5pm.

There are heavy traffic delays in the area as a result of the road closure. 

A spokesperson for South Western Ambulance Service said one person had recieved minor injuries in the crash, while another was "unconscious" and being assessed at the scene.

Police advised motorists should use New Road and Parley Cross from Bournemouth or Magna Road, Gravel Hill and the A31 from Poole.

Traffic was turned around by officers and the road is closed at Ham Lane.

Dorset Fire and Rescue Service crews from Redhill and Ferndown were called at 2.15pm as one person was trapped in their vehicle, but they left the scene at around 2.40pm.
