POLICE are appealing for help after an alleged incident of racist verbal abuse in Poole.

Officers have arrested a man after another man allegedly used racially threatening and abusive words in the doorway of the Clarks Shoe Shop, 29-30 Dolphin Centre, some time between 1-1.30pm on Tuesday.

PC Julie Payne, of Poole police, said: “The Dolphin Centre was very busy at that time and the incident would have been witnessed by a lot of people.

“This incident would have caused a lot of distress to families and shoppers in the centre at the time and we are particularly keen to hear from an older couple who were being served in the store at the time. “I would like to appeal for anyone who may have been witness to this incident to come forward and contact Dorset Police to help with this investigation.”

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101, quoting incident number 21:239. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
