COMPANIES that have signed up to a green energy scheme are in some cases saving tens of thousands of pounds, it is claimed.

The Green PEA – or Positive Environmental Action – scheme is a certification scheme backed by Borough of Poole and Poole Chamber of Commerce.

It provides companies with a review of their energy costs and offers them recommendations to save money on their energy usage.

An exhibition about the scheme is to be held on Tuesday July 22, 4-8pm, at Bournemouth and Poole College. Admission is free to Poole companies, who can also book a free energy usage survey.

Joining the scheme is free at first, in return for a written commitment from the senior management team. Companies then have the option of working through different levels at their convenience.

Next week’s exhibition will include contributions from all the scheme’s delivery partners and second tier suppliers affiliated to the scheme. There will also be presentations, including one on the funding options for local companies.

Simon Harrison, of Poole Chamber of Commerce, is chairman of the action group that has established the scheme.

He said: “The exhibition is a fantastic opportunity for the business community to find out more about Green PEA and what it can offer them.

“We are seeing companies that have signed up to the scheme making savings in the tens of thousands on their energy bills, so we would like as many companies as possible to get involved. By signing up to Green PEA companies are not just saving money, but also reducing their carbon emissions and contributing towards the Borough of Poole’s carbon reduction target.”

Businesses can register their interest in the exhibition by contacting Lee Merchant at the Borough of Poole on 01202 633029, emailing l.merchant@poole.gov.

Rubbish, there's only one way to save energy, turn everything off your not using, simple.

I have a very simple policy, any sentence (or name) containing the words "Green" and "Energy" must be a load of Pony; it saves me a lot of time and money.

The term "Green Energy" has replaced "Millennium" as a pseudonym for Rip-Off.
