CHERRIES GET SHARE BACK
 |
| PLEASED: Alastair Saverimutto |
CHIEF executive Alastair Saverimutto has confirmed that Cherries' Football League share has been transferred.
Cherries agreed to the league's terms and conditions by today's noon deadline and received confirmation of the share transfer this afternoon.
Today's events see the club's share transferred to the new company and will also lead to the Dorset outfit exiting administration.
As part of the league's offer, Cherries will begin the League Two season with a 17-point handicap and pay unsecured creditors about £500,000 - the amount offered in the club's CVA earlier this year.
In a statement, the league's chief operating officer Andy Williamson said: "Trying to be fair to the fans of those clubs that have gone through an insolvency process, while also being equally fair to the supporters of those clubs that have not, results in the league having to make some very difficult decisions.
"We have to try and balance the sporting advantage a club gains over its rivals by being able to begin again, debt-free, in this manner.
"While the points deductions imposed on these two clubs are clearly significant, they have enabled the league to allow both AFC Bournemouth and Rotherham United to continue as Football League clubs without unfairly disadvantaging their competitors.
"Both clubs are long standing members of the Football League family and we wish them every success under their new regimes."

Like all genuine AFCB supporters absolutely delighted that we have a team to follow and wish every success to the new board, manager and players.
Just one thought comes to mind.Have the "Powers that be"ever given thought to the thousands of innocent, genuine supporters and players that are affected by this deduction of points rule?? In any other walk of life people are not punished if innocent.!!I hope in future similar situations a better way will be found to deal with it.

So can someone confirm 100%, the ownership set up and director involvement in AFCB now, just wondering as you do?
New brooms please sweep out the old stale and useless......
Support is needed but so is transparency.

I guess those of us who post comments on this site don’t need geeing up but I do wish some of the so called supporters who went to Wembley and Cardiff will now get off heir armchairs and join the rest of us to cheer the team back where they belong and that is league one and above. My Welsh brother in-law says that he will start supporting AFCB when they start winning (I will remind him when we do) but isn’t it sad that like the FL everyone kicks a team when they are down. Support is that much more important now so if you are one of those who went to Wembley and Cardiff come to the games we need you. Up the Cherries

What a sad attitude your brother-in-law has. Similar to the plastic Man ure /Liverpool/Arsenal fans who say "why don't you support a team that wins things" Fools.
Let's show the FL what we think of their ruling and why larger clubs with huge debts are allowed to go unpunished. UTCIAD

For over 6 months I have logged on to this webpage and read the trials and tribulations of Bournemouth football club, My father in law lives in Bournemouth and is a Cherries season ticket holder and we often chat about the club and what lays in store for it since administration..
I have read hundreds of comments posted on here, some Good some bad and some simply pathetic, Finally. the destiny of your club has been decided after a prolonged spell in administration. Personally I think that the 17 pt penalty is about the going rate just now although I must admit I thought between 10-15 would have been nearer the mark. Having said that, your club now has the chance of playing the 2008/09 season with a reasonable chance of staying in Div 2. The fans have now got to get behind the team and stop this incessant gripe about having to travel “Up North” to fulfil quite a few of your away fixtures. Just get on with it and have a day out supporting your club. Lets be honest you never have had, or will have to travel South to play unless you draw a team from the IOW in the cup !!!!. Yes your gates will be lower than the last few seasons and the club has to cut its cloth accordingly. Football in Div 2 generally isn’t a great deal higher than Blue Square premier standard (I watch quite a bit of Blue Square football). so with a bit of endeavour and a willingness to succeed there isn’t any reason why you shouldn’t have a decent season then be able to kick on up the table in season 2009/10. What the club and players need though is for you supporters to stop all the bickering and get behind the team Win lose or draw, remember what happened to the likes of Halifax and Boston. At the end of the day you have lived to fight another day. Enjoy it, Good luck and stop bloody moaning….

Still had to pay cash this afternoon for tickets though, let's hope that is sorted soon so we can get back to normal, quite a queue at the ground looks like a decent crowd tomorrow, I think everyone is just relieved we have a game and are going to show, let's give them a great cheer and get those 3 points UTCIAD.

Frank Fidler,
Jack Cross worked for my father during one close season, good footballer, work ethic not so good (according to my old man!).

Frank Fidler,
Re- earlier question about Nelson Stiffle. He was an Indian right winger who could run like the wind (olyimpian I think). Did not own a pair of boots 'til he turned 20.
Scored one of the goals that beat Spurs in the cup all those years ago.

reading all of the stuff today - although I am 100% AFCB. I think the FA put their point very well and at least I respect their point of view of deciding on -17 points....also Nelson STIFFLE, what a story, come on the ECHO where are you, this guy sounds like a true AFCB hero

Totally agree with "Dan of Kinson" with his sympathy for creditors involved in this AFCB debacle.I had a business for the last 20 years of my working life and lost money on three occasions through Companies going into administration. This is a risk everyone takes when going into business. I just find it, rightly or wrongly, very hard to understand the thinking of people who make the rules of "Points deduction." We have lost a total of 27 points, been demoted because of it, and face a tough season ahead.I say that is very harsh punishment for a small club, just piling on the agony for the club and its supporters.

On the pathetic sky sport watching big 4 fans - they are just like small kids who can't stand losing. Basically have no backbone or moral fibre!!Its ok to like a prem team (mine's Villa - so I can handle losing..)) but I also get my self around the country watching the cherries!!
