Come home plea to missing Jodie
MISSING: Thomas Hardye School student Jodie Jeffery, 16, from Milborne St Andrew
MISSING: Thomas Hardye School student Jodie Jeffery, 16, from Milborne St Andrew

THE father of missing 16-year-old North Dorset schoolgirl Jodie Jeffery is appealing for her to come home.

Frank Atkins said he and Jodie's mum Sally Jeffery are very worried as their daughter has been missing since May 1.

He told the Daily Echo: "We are constantly thinking about her. Her mother is distraught sometimes with it all.

"Every member of the family is doing everything they can to try and find her.

"We just want her home. Whatever problems she thinks she has, we can sort them out."

He said it had been "just a regular day" when the Milborne St Andrew teenager left the house to catch the school bus.

She went into school for registration at the Thomas Hardye School, Dorchester, where she is studying for GCSEs, but she left just over an hour later.

Although initially she had contact with a relative, her mobile phone has been switched off and she does not have the battery charger with her.

Mr Atkins said his daughter had been coming home on the 6pm bus, later than usual, just before she disappeared, saying she had to prepare for her upcoming GCSE exams.

"It could well be the exams were stressing her out. She was always very quiet," he said.

"It's totally out of character for her."

The last conversation was by text message between Jodie and her mum, during which Sally Jeffery told her daughter to be home on the 4.30pm bus.

Jodie, who is 5ft 6ins tall, has shoulder length, dark blonde hair. She has taken a pair of khaki-coloured cargo trousers with her.

Dorset Police spokesman said: "We would urge those who are sheltering Jodie to persuade her to go home. We believe she is still in Dorset."
