Warning after drug users found dead
A DORSET police chief is warning drug users to be vigilant following the death of two people at separate addresses in Bournemouth during the weekend.
Although the 36-year-old woman and 22-year-old man are not linked, both are thought to have taken lethal blue tablets and a white powder with fatal consequences.
Both are believed to have been affected by the drugs as they slept. The coroner was informed after their bodies were found on Saturday morning (May 10).
DCI Kevin Connolly said both were thought to have purchased and taken illegal drugs; blue tablets purporting to be Valium and a white powder.
He said the side-effects of the drugs seemed to have come on while the victims were asleep.
In a bid to prevent further tragedies, DCI Connolly appealed to anyone who may be in possession of similar tablets not to use them and seek medical advice if they become concerned.
He said: "For those people who continue to use illicit drugs I would urge them to get help and support from the harm and reduction services available.
"I would also encourage anybody with information to contact Dorset police in confidence on 01202 222222 or the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555111."
Inquests will be held into both deaths.
