DOCUMENTARY photographer, writer and activist Stuart Baker-Brown and his Dorset-based partner Anne Staub are co-exhibiting at the Peacock Gallery, Upton Country Park this week.
Stuart was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 1996. The condition was triggered in late 1991 after he visited Moscow and took part in marches against Communist hardliners attempting a military coup against the then Soviet leader, Mikhail Gorbachev.
On his return to London he felt followed by the secret services and fell into a world of anxiety and fear.
After years of coping with the destructive symptoms of schizophrenia he now travels to the Himalayas where he treks and climbs to try and inspire and promote positive recovery from the condition.
Originally from Paris, Anne is now based in Bournemouth. Her photography sets out to emphasise the natural beauty overlooked by the naked eye.
The joint show – People and Landscape of Tibet and Nepal by Stuart, and Celebration of Nature by Anne – runs until Thursday.
