SAMUEL L JACKSON is just one of the main stars in the spotlight at this year’s Purbeck Film Festival, it has been announced.

The biggest and longest-running rural film festival in the UK kicks off in Dorset next month.

The Purbeck Film Festival, now in its 17th year, will once again bring a selection of more than 80 films to fans across the area. Film buffs can look forward to two weeks of exciting screenings at a range of venues including Wareham’s historic Rex Cinema and the Lighthouse Poole.

A host of other screenings – at arts centres, village halls, pubs, tourism venues and hotels – completes a fortnight of films from October 11. Aside from Samuel L Jackson in Pulp Fiction, the festival also features a number of comedies including Whisky Galore and cult classic Withnail and I.

The festival has also opened its doors to amateur and student filmmakers, whose work will feature alongside blockbusters, classics, arthouse and foreign cinema throughout the three-week event.

The festival runs from October 11 to 26 at venues including the Lighthouse in Poole, Durlston Castle in Swanage and countless other quirky venues such as village halls, bars and museums. Full details are available at purbeck film.com
