Stars of tomorrow in production of Cold Comfort Farm
11:15am Wednesday 20th June 2012 in Theatre By Patrick Gough
AN ENSEMBLE production by students of the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School comes to the Sturminster Exchange on July 1, as they take on Cold Comfort Farm.
Stella Gibbons’ Cold Comfort Farm has found a place in the hearts of many devotees of the comic English novel, parodying as it does the romantic stories of DH Lawrence and Mary Webb.
In Paul Doust’s hilarious stage play, the heroine, Flora Poste, embarks upon a quest to discover her family’s roots, and as a result the “nice girl from London” meets the rough and ready Starkadders of Cold Comfort Farm.
Who can fail to enjoy her meeting with evil Aunt Ada Doom, the fey Elfine and smouldering Seth? With past graduates including the late Pete Postlethwaite, Jeremy Irons, Miranda Richardson and Peter O’Toole, Bristol Old Vic Theatre School brings you the stars of tomorrow today.
Catch Cold Comfort Farm at the Sturminster Newton Exchange – call 01258 475137. The show starts at 7.30pm.
