FOLLOWING their success in 2007 with their UK debut, international company Mi Tierra Flamenca return to Wimborne’s Tivoli Theatre on Friday with a new show: Unearthed.
The company has its origins in Jerez De la Frontera, where its co-producers, Dorset-born dancer Ester and guitarist Uri Tal, lived and worked for many years and where they still have their home. Their aim is to overturn the stereotypical image of flamenco by retaining the spirit of the dance even when producing a show like Unearthed, which steps away from the traditional flamenco show.
“Unearthed has raw flamenco at its very heart, but employs contemporary theatrical twists to take the audience on an allegorical journey into the soul of flamenco, a journey from the dark and stormy to the radiant,” says Ester.
“As authentic flamenco, with both visual and audio effects to delight and enhance the mood, Unearthed should appeal to a wide audience, whether dance-enthusiasts, theatre-lovers or die-hard flamenco aficionados.”
