HERE’S our pick of the top-ten events in Dorset and the New Forest this month.

1. A candlelit procession will light up the Lower Gardens on August 16, 23, and 30. There’s entertainment around bandstand from 7pm, followed by a walk towards the sea front, with lanterns and torches provided.

2. The Regent Centre in Christchurch has two extra screenings of Andre Rieu’s 2017 Maastricht Concert on August 16. The 60-piece orchestra delivers an unforgettable musical experience.

3. Summer Breeze on the Quay attracts thousands to Poole Quay to listen to live music and enjoy a fireworks display. This year’s line-up includes Colt45 and Rockin’ the Joint, with Mungo Jerry headlining the final night – a party atmosphere is sure to be present on the 17th, 24th and 31st of August.

4. Luna Cinema brings three nights of cinema magic to the sea front with its open air cinema at Pier Approach. La La Land, Notting Hill and The Goonies will be shown on the big screen from August 18-20.

5. The London Repertory Players are now into their second week at the Shelley Theatre in Boscombe with Neil Simon’s comedy Come Blow Your Horn followed by NJ Crisp’s thriller, Dangerous Obsession.

6. Friday Fireworks continue to light up Bournemouth Pier throughout the month on Friday August 18 and 25.

8. Back for its seventh year, Somerley Beer and Music Festival near Ringwood will bring live music and over 150 different beers and ciders to choose from. Running from the August 25 -26, there is also a variety of local produce to enjoy.

9. Branksome Recreation Ground hosts the Moscow State Circus’ luxury big top from August 24-29t. Inside, audiences can see Europe’s only double Russian swings, award winning clowns and astonishing feats to thrill and amaze.

10. The Great Dorset Steam Fair kicks off its 49th year from with stunt displays, music , food entertainment and a wide variety of steam exhibitions from August 24-28.
