HUNDREDS of theatre goers will be disappointed to hear that Wonderland, a grammy-nominated Broadway musical which was due to visit Bournemouth next month, has been cancelled.

The large-scale touring production based on Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, was supposed to be staged at the Pavilion as part of its UK and European tour.

Directed and produced by Neil Eckersley and starring Britain’s Got Talent singer Rachael Wooding as Alice, it was scheduled to open on Tuesday, August 15 and run until Saturday, August 19, but was called off today.

Mr Eckersley told the Echo: "With immediate effect and a heavy heart, the remaining 24 performances have been cancelled.

"The decision to cancel the final three weeks of the tour has been a difficult one and one that has not been taken lightly."

Mr Eckersley said the show which has played 25 venues across the UK, had been cancelled following a dispute with his "ex sound supplier".

"We would not wish to present a production of anything but the highest artistic standards."

Full refunds are available from the box office. A spokesman for BH Live Tickets confirmed they will be contacting all customers shortly, with details about refunds and further information.
