THE Lighthouse in Poole opens its doors once more to its popular biennial Puppet Festival between February 13 and 20, offering the chance for families to enjoy some half term fun as well as some evening puppet entertainment which is strictly for the grown-ups.

Join in the adventures of The Ugly Duckling in Hans Christian Andersen’s much loved tale of transformation on Saturday, February 13, which is brought to life by beautiful puppet characters, live music, captivating storytelling and a generous sprinkling of theatre magic.

Set in present day Cornwall, The Magic Beanstalk on Wednesday, February 17 uses beautiful hand-carved puppets and amazing experiments to retell the classic story of Jack and the Giant in an exciting adventure for all girls and boys who believe in magic.

On Thursday, February 18 families are invited to Pongo’s Party – a brand new show featuring the voices of Cbeebies’ Justin Fletcher and Nicole Davis as Pongo the Pig and Molly-Moo the Cow.

Presented in the style of Victorian music hall, with speciality acts and variety entertainments, Red Earth’s production of The Remarkable Tale of Oliver Twist on Saturday, February 20 brings Oliver’s story vividly to life for children and grown-ups.

Two shows in the Lighthouse Studio provide a more grown-up take on the idea of a puppet show. On Tuesday, February 16, Platform 4 present The Legend of the Holy Drinker, based on the novella by Joseph Roth.

The Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppet Theatre also return to Lighthouse on Friday, February 19 with a brand new show of songs and sketches.
