EVERYONE’s favourite stand-up Jimmy Carr returns to the BIC on Saturday. The 8 out of 10 cats host is well known for his dark and some might say offensive style of comedy.

Speaking to the Bournemouth Daily Echo last year, Jimmy says: “I’m told my sense of humour is really dark, but nobody thinks their sense of humour is dark – they just think it’s funny. It’s great that I have the freedom to say whatever I want on stage and people have the freedom to complain about it. A couple of lines might go near the edge, but people have literally bought into what I’m doing and I feel have permission to say what I want,” says joker Jimmy.

Whatever your view, Carr's sharp one-liners and anecdotes are something to behold. The comedian even actively encourages hecklers who are foolish enough to invoke his ferocious wit.

“Audiences don’t have to enjoy every single joke. If you didn’t like that one, don’t get hung up on it – there’ll be another one along in a minute. But doing one-liners is a voracious monster.

“Each joke only takes 30 seconds, or ideally 20 seconds. It would be great to be able to do longer routines. I think a lot of comedians have children because they need a show – ‘I knocked up the missus because I was desperate for some material about twins!’ If I ever run out of material, I’ll simply go and have colonic irrigation. There must be loads of material in that,” adds Jimmy, 42.

Jimmy has been called "the hardest working man in comedy", but he won't fall for such flattery.

"Let’s face facts, it's not that impressive, It’s like being the ‘Tallest Dwarf’ or the ‘Healthiest Glaswegian’. Really not that big a deal."

The master of the one-liner has a brand new show with brand new jokes, but the same old Jimmy. Funny Business promises to be a hilarious night out packed with pithy put-downs, stories and jokes.

Jimmy has sold over a million DVDs and hosted countless TV shows but live comedy is what he does best. Packed with quick wit, deadpan jokes and dark humour, Jimmy’s Bournemouth routine is set to be as shocking and controversial as ever so get ready to switch off your conscience.

The relentless comedian is bringing his routine all around the country with more than 200 dates. He knows a thing or two about comedy having performed to more than 1.2 million people on live tours and releasing seven DVDs.

The London stand-up has also been the face of numerous panel shows including Alternative Election Night with David Mitchell, Lauren Laverne and Charlie Brooker, 10 O’Clock Live and Big Fat Quiz of the Year. He also hosted the first British version of A Comedy Roast on Channel 4.

Jimmy has scooped numerous accolades over the past decade including the British Comedy Award for Best Live Stand Up Tour, a Loaded LAFTA Award for Best Stand-Up and a Perrier Award nomination.

However, it’s performing stand-up live on stage remains a passion for Jimmy.

“Absolutely. I think, ‘How flattering that 2,000 people have actually paid to see me’. In some towns where I play, there are 50 different options for a night out, but they have booked a babysitter and organised transport and food and come to my show. The amount of effort they take, you want them to go away from the show thinking, ‘That two hours was the most I’ve ever laughed!’ You have a real opportunity to ensure it’s their funniest evening ever – and that’s what I try to do.”
