HENRIK Ibsen’s characteristically provocative indictment of 19th century morality, Ghosts, is coming to Lighthouse in Poole on September 26 and 27.

One of Ibsen’s greatest and most controversial plays, Ghosts has been adapted for Sell A Door Theatre’s autumn tour by Alfred Enoch, who’s best known for playing Dean Thomas in the Harry Potter film franchise.

Helen Alving is trapped in a world where the ‘dead ideas’ preached by Pastor Manders rule outright, and her own family’s insidious legacy threatens scandal.

She is desperately trying to conceal her husband’s philandering past by building an orphanage in his name, under the pastor’s guiding hand.

But the return of her estranged son Oswald brings Helen’s ghosts back to haunt her and all hopes of success are reduced to ashes.

Lighthouse spokesman Nick Churchill said: “Though written in 1881, there are clear parallels with our own society – the pious leaders of the past have been replaced by our own custodians of the status quo and money is their new religion.”

Following sellout tours of Spring Awakening, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Lord of the Flies, Sell A Door Theatre Company concludes their 2013 touring season with this exciting adaptation of one of Henrik Ibsen’s finest works. Shows on September 26 and 27 are at 7.45pm and tickets are £12.50. Call 0844 406 8666 for tickets.
