ITS strapline is 'local address, global flavours', and the menu at Westbourne Tandoori certainly reflects that.

With an extensive range of dishes - both traditional curries and chef's specialities - this is one of the broadest selections of food I've seen at an Indian restaurant.

Given that the eaterie, in Seamoor Road, was also packed out on a mid-week evening, I felt assured the food was going to be good.

We enjoyed some drinks, crispy poppadoms with mixed dips while we perused the menu.

I chose the Lamb Samosa (£3.45) to start, followed by a Chicken Tikka Pasanda (£7.50) and Bombay Aloo (£3.45), while my husband went for the Kebab Puri (£3.45) to start and the Tandoori Mixed Grill (£11.95) with a Keema Nan (£2.65).

Both starters were generous in size - the samosas were deliciously crispy, stuffed full with flavoursome minced lamb and peas, while the kebab consisted of tasty minced lamb marinated in spices and skewered in a charcoal oven, then wrapped with Puri - a flaky, pancake style bread.

Already feeling slightly full, we asked for a short break before our main courses were served.

The mixed grill arrived sizzling - a large selection of Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Tikka, Lamb Tikka and Sheek kebab, served with a portion of salad and an extra jug of fresh, mint sauce. Even my meat-loving husband struggled to finish the portion.

My Pasanda contained large, succulent pieces of chicken breast cooked in red wine with fresh cream, cultured yoghurt and almond and was deliciously rich and creamy.

The huge serving of Keema Nan was used to soak up much of the Pasanda sauce, while the Bombay Aloo potatoes were just lightly spiced - perfect for my less adventurous palate.

Despite the restaurant being pretty much full on the night we visited, the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive and we left feeling warmly welcomed and very well fed.
