Is this the best burger in Bournemouth?

Readers who watched BBC Two’s The Restaurant Man will be fully aware of the back story behind 7Bone Burger Co.

Two friends started selling burgers from a town centre market stall, gradually improving their recipes, before saving enough money to move into the first restaurant site in Southampton.

The opening of the Bournemouth diner one year later marks the next chapter in the 7Bone Burger story.

On entering the Bournemouth diner the open plan kitchen is immediately striking, the chefs cooking area runs almost the entire length of the eatery and creates a lively atmosphere.

The menu is simple and most people coming in will know exactly what they‘re going to order; a burger and fries.

After settling on two milkshakes we ordered our burgers.

The interestingly named Robert Johnson burger (beefburger with cheese, truffled garlic mushrooms, truffle mayo) and a Prince Charles Is Overrated (beef burger with bacon, cheese, shredded iceberg lettuce, pickles and ‘dirty spread’). Perhaps humorously named menu items are funny at some point, but when it comes to ordering this never seems the time.

We also choose one portion of ‘dirty fries’ to share (dirty meaning with sauces and relish) and on the recommendation of the waitress we added ‘Frickles’ which are crispy deep fried gherkins.

Our banofee and Malteser milkshakes arrived quickly and were very satisfying, tasty and sweet.

The burgers were cooked medium and were moist without becoming soggy and breaking up.

Fries were crispy and the portion was generous.

Overall the burger and fries were cooked exactly as you would wish and tasted great.

But the revelation of the meal was definitely the Frickles which were crunchy and tangy.

Thanks must go to the waitress for recommending these.

Located within walking distances of the cinema, Pavilion and BIC, it’s easy to see that Bournemouth food lovers will enjoy the burgers and atmosphere on offer here.

Bournemouth’s best burger? This must come close.
