ONE of the world’s best bartenders is set to spice up September as he crowns the best Bloody Mary in Dorset.

Now in its sixth year, Dorset’s Best Bloody Mary competition and festival, run by James Fowler, from the Larderhouse in Southbourne, is on the hunt for the best mixer in the bar tending business.

The competition, on September 25 at the Larderhouse will feature the top bars in Dorset and the surrounding areas competing to win the title of Best Bloody Mary, using fresh tomato juice from the Isle of White.

An organiser for the festival said: “Over the years drinks have shown and utilised various local ingredients or been inspired by Dorset history and landmarks. Do you go classic or twist this iconic cocktail?”

Judges will be blind tasting the cocktails to decide who will be crowned this year’s champion.

The classic cocktail is a mix of vodka, tomato juice and a selection of spices sometimes topped off with Worcestershire sauce.
