THERE’S still time to get baking for Be a Star, Bake a Cake fundraiser. April is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month and this year Bowel Cancer UK and Beating Bowel Cancer are hoping more people than ever will hold a bake sale and raise as much money as possible to fund much needed research, information and support services that will help save lives from bowel cancer.

TV chefs including Matt Tebbutt, a former chef consultant for the Hilton Bournemouth, Ainsley Harriott, Deliciously Ella, Eric Lanlard, Gennaro Contaldo, Gino D’Acampo, Greg Wallace, Jo Pratt, Nadia Sawalha, Rachel Khoo and blogger Olivia Wollenberg have all whipped up their favourite recipes for the campaign.

French pâtissier Eric Lanlard says: “I’m thrilled to support the Be a Star, Bake a Cake campaign and help raise awareness to stop bowel cancer, the UK’s second biggest cancer killer. Let’s bake and save lives this April!”

Vicky Martin, community fundraising manager at Bowel Cancer UK and Beating Bowel Cancer, says: “Whether you’re a whizz in the kitchen or if baking sends you into a tiz, our celebrity chef supporters have a recipe for you.Test your baking skills with Eric Lanlard’s white chocolate and raspberry marquise.

“Matt Tebbutt’s Monmouth pudding (pictured) is a family recipe passed down from generations, or if you’re after a health boost Deliciously Ella’s raw date and hazelnut brownies could be the recipe for you.

“Hold a cake stall, coffee morning or afternoon tea and invite your friends, family and colleagues to make a donation. Bowel cancer is the nation’s second biggest cancer killer. However, it shouldn’t be. It’s treatable and curable, especially if diagnosed early.” To sign-up visit bowelcanceruk.org.uk/be-a-star,-bake-a-cake
