Scones. How do you like to eat yours? Cream first or jam?

This week is Afternoon Tea Week and we visited the Small Cake Company in Bournemouth to put the methods to the test.

The Devon tradition is to put cream on the scone followed by the jam, but folk in Cornwall do it the other way around.

In April, David Cameron committed a cream tea faux pas when he put jam on his scone first when visiting Devon.

The Prime Minister said: "When you are in Devon you do the jam and the cream in a different order to Cornwall, is that right?

"I'm going to get this wrong, aren't I? In Devon it's... jam first and cream on top?"

Staff then went on to correct him.

He said: "Wrong way round. I knew I'd get it wrong," before perhaps controversially following it up with "it all tastes the same, doesn't it?"

Does it make a difference to you which way you do it?
