THE way to a man's heart is through his stomach, according to the old adage. And it certainly worked for 24-year-old Rebecca Warbis who has just produced her first Date Night Cook Book.

It is based on the Poole-based photographer's experience of DIY dating with her boyfriend.

She told Taste: "When I first met my other half I liked creating all these cute DIY dates to impress him whilst not costing the earth. So I wanted to make a visual date book with recipe suggestions so guys and girls have heaps of ideas for easy DIY dates that are guaranteed to impress."

Rebecca says she discovered a passion for food photography while she was working with clients such as Asda and Tesco.

"As I'm based in Poole, finding a food stylist like the photographers in London was really tricky. So that’s when I started cooking and styling my own shoots. I found that I just loved all aspects of the process: from thinking up the idea, to creating the recipe and to making fantastic pictures.

"Then as a final project for my degree I wanted to make a physical book that demonstrates all my key areas of skill. I met a great team of designers and illustrators through university that helped translate the book into a physical thing. I am so proud of everything we’ve achieved."

And if the proof of the pudding, is in the eating, Rebecca says all the recipes are tried and tested.

"Beach Baked Bananas are my absolute favourite. My dad used to make something similar when I was little and it always reminds me of happy summer evenings.

"He’s such a great cook and has taught me to be super critical about what I’m making and always look to better it."

The book comprises of six chapters with stunning colour photography and simple recipes that won't break the bank: Indoor Tent Night, Breakfast In Bed, Picnic Date Night, Dusk Beach, Movie Marathon and All Dressed Up, Nowhere to Go.

Now Rebecca is hoping to get the book published and is currently in negotiations with publishers in the UK and America.

Pre-release soft back copies are now available through Rebecca's website price £20 - see rebeccawarbis.com

And Rebecca has plenty more food for thought.

She added: "It’s totally my dream to make a series of Date Night Cookbooks. I’ve got so many ideas!" Watch this space.
