IN TWO hours of my life that I will never get back, director Kevin Tancharoen gave me a strange amalgamation of the original 1980 film and both the television series and stage show that subsequently followed.
The remake lacked any in-depth connection to the characters and did not even contain the NYC yellow taxi that Fame has become synonymous with.
As a film in its own right it is fairly enjoyable despite not having a particular storyline, jumping from plot to plot and not including many songs, even witholding the famous title song until a bad remix is heard over the end credits.
However, if you want a Fame fix, don’t bother with this one – the original is so much better.
