Love Island fans have compared the burgeoning relationship between Laura Anderson and Paul Knop to that of Camilla Thurlow and Jamie Jewitt.

The duo are the only pairing from the last series of the ITV2 show to remain together, after coupling up late on in the run of the show when it seemed Camilla would never find a suitable match.

Laura has already been dumped by Wes Nelson and Jack Fowler, who have ended relationships with her in favour of other girls.

But fans were thrilled when newcomer Paul, who has appeared in a Britney Spears music video, chose Laura in the recoupling on Thursday’s episode.

One wrote on Twitter: “GET IT LAURA. I am really happy that Paul picked her. So much like my favs Camila and Jamie.

“I am pleased for her, she came in for all the right reasons and the grass is way greener in pal’s side.”

Another wrote: “Laura and Paul are the Camila and Jamie of this series,” while another said: “Is Paul to Laura as Jamie is to Camilla. God I hope so.”

One more added: “Really hope Laura and Paul are the new Jamie and Camilla!!”

Viewers rejoiced that the flight attendant has another chance at being in a good relationship.

One wrote: “YES THANK YOU PAUL FOR CHOOSING LAURA!! SHE CAN FINALLY BE HAPPY,” as another said: “Yes Paul come be this year’s knight in shining armour and save Laura like Jamie did Camilla.”

Another fan hoped: “Please, please, please let Paul be Laura’s long awaited Prince Charming. That girl needs lasting happiness finally.”

The recoupling also saw doctor Alex George attempt to rekindle his relationship with Alexandra Cane, after Jack coupled up with Laura Crane, who Alex had been interested in.

Love Island continues at 9pm on ITV2.
