Do you love baking? Do you love cake? Then why not join Dorset disability charity Diverse Abilities and bake a difference during the charity’s 60th anniversary year.

The charity is holding its fourth annual Great Dorset Vintage Bake Sale throughout the county to raise much-needed funds for its vital work supporting children and adults with profound physical and/or learning disabilities, and their families.

The event has a vintage twist for 2015 to celebrate the diamond anniversary of Diverse Abilities.

The charity is now looking for members of the local community to sign up and hold a vintage bake sale at work, with a club, at a community centre or at home to help raise funds for the charity that supports more than 600 children and adults in Dorset.

The main event, sponsored by solicitors and town planners HLF (Horsey Lightly Fynn) takes place on Friday, May 1, but bake sales can be held at any point around that date.

“Following on from the success of the previous events, we hope that the Great Dorset Vintage Bake Sale is even bigger and everyone in Dorset gets involved and joins with friends, family or colleagues over some delicious cake,” said Diverse Abilities corporate and community fundraiser Beccy Briley.

“Over the past three years, more than £10,000 has been raised for Diverse Abilities by our Great Dorset bakers and we hope everyone that signs up raises vital funds for the charity’s essential work.”

Simon Nightingale from HLF added: “The Great Dorset Vintage Bake Sale is a wonderful opportunity for community groups, businesses, families and friends to support such a worthwhile charity and enjoy themselves in the process.

“We are delighted to be a sponsor.”

Everyone that signs-up to take part in the event will receive a special fundraising pack with vintage accessories including bunting and cake labels to decorate on the day, bake sale tips, cake recipes to choose from and how to make your Great Dorset Vintage Bake Sale event a success.
