FOR an explosive day out this summer, head over to The Tank Museum in Bovington.

The Tank Museum houses the world’s largest and finest collection of armoured fighting vehicles.

The tank was a British invention that changed warfare forever when it was introduced in the First World War, and Bovington has been the home of the tank ever since.

From the Somme to Tiananmen Square or D-Day to Desert Storm, the tank has played a part in shaping history and it continues to do so today. This unique collection of more than 300 vehicles is regarded as the best in the world.

The museum’s exhibitions tell the story of armoured warfare from the First World War to the present day. As you explore the Museum’s six large halls you will come face to face with vehicles that have seen action in all the major wars of the 20th Century and hear first-hand accounts from those who fought in them.

Don’t miss the brand new and improved explosive Tanks in Action Displays which will be taking place at 2pm on every weekday during the Summer Holidays. In recognition of the First World War Centenary, the display will open with a fierce fire-fight between British and German troops backed up by a replica First World War tank, the Mark IV.

Then watch in awe as tanks from as early as the Second World War roll into action with thundering engines and life-like explosions! The museum is open daily from 10am – 5pm. Admission costs £12.50 for adults, £7.50 for children and family rates are available.
