PIRATE Day at the Nothe Fort is making a swashbuckling return on Easter Sunday.

The popular day, to be held on Sunday, takes place from 10.30am to 4.30pm.

The Fort Artillery will be firing their cannons and leading the battle against the Poole Pirates, assisted by young ’uns, who are invited to bring their cutlasses. There will also be a mock battle between the Nothe Fort Artillery and the pirates with lots of smoke, gun fire and shouting.

Bloodcurdling yells are bound to frighten the enemy!

Fearless pirate Polly Pilgrim will act as special guest, guiding swashbucklers through Capt’n Green Godfrey’s haunted underground lair.

There will be a treasure hunt for gold bars, face painting, a pirate bouncy castle, children’s crafts, fancy dress competition and much more.

There will be prizes for the best dressed pirates and lots of opportunity to join in.

The fort’s restaurant will be open for hard tack, water and other refreshments and there will be special pirate items on sale in the shop.

Entry charge for the event is £5 for adults and £3 for children between the ages of five and 15. Children under the age of five go free of charge.

Families are invited to come walk the plank at the fort.

There are many activities going on throughout the day to entertain the children.
