ANOTHER tuneful series of Thursday lunchtime concerts by some the finest musicians in the country returns to Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts this autumn.

Two virtuoso pianists play Rachmaninov’s wonderful Symphonic Dances and Debussy’s L’apres Midi d’un Faune on 5 October when Noriko Ogawa and Philip Smith make a welcome return to Lighthouse.

The Locrian Trio (comprised of Rita Manning – violin, Katherine Rockhill – piano and Justin Pearson – cello) perform beautiful melodies from Schubert, Bizet, Bellini, Lerner and Loewe and Eric Coates on 9 November.

Get into the festive spirit on 7 December with some Cathedral Carols from the Wessex Consort, when twelve of the finest young professional singers conducted by Andrew King, the celebrated early music tenor, create that unique English choral sound.

On 8 February you can enjoy a selection of music from the best English lute songwriters and their French and Italian contemporaries, performed by Emma Kirkby (soprano) and Jakob Lindberg (lute) – the two acknowledged UK master of the genre.

Finally, on 15 March John Mills (guitar) and the Archaeus String Quartet play Vivaldi’s much-loved D major sonata and Boccherini’s charming Quintet in a unique and varied programme.

The Lunchtime Recitals series is on sale from the Lighthouse ticket office on 01202 280000 or online at www.lighthousepoole.co.uk
