THE Osmington Summer Fete and Family Fun Dog Show takes place on Sunday, August 3 from noon until 4pm.

The fete is a day out for all the family with profits going to local charities.

It will feature the famous Osmington Egg Toss, cream teas, a beer tent, a barbecue, pony rides, a bouncy castle, as well as classic vehicles.

There will be a number of games and visitors can even have a bit of a flutter – catch the Magnificent Maggot Race and cheer your maggot home.

There will also be a visit from a Weymouth fire engine, some vintage cars and two vintage fire engines.

The fete also features Portland’s Second Edition Majorettes and live music from the Wareham Whalers and Titch Roberts.

The Family Fun Dog show, sponsored by Medivet and judged by Ann Bond of Ann Bond Dog Training, brings in plenty of pooches with their owners and families. Osmington’s Sunray Inn sponsors the Tea Room and the cheese for the ploughman's platters is donated this year by Ford Farm.

Last year there were more than 100 entries and the Best Puppy winner, a pug puppy, went on to win Best in Show.

There is a beer tent selling Dorset ales and cider, expertly run by the team from The Smugglers Inn, Osmington Mills.

Bakers can enter Osbake 2014 – bake a cake or some cupcakes, and bring them to the village hall at 4pm on Saturday, August 2. Winners will be announced at the fete. There are no rules, bakers must say if they’re under 12 and make sure ingredients and contact details are attached to their entry. There are certificates and prizes to be won.

Entry is free and there is free car parking.

Last year around 1,000 people visited the fete.

Local companies sponsoring the fete are Portland Stone, Domvs, Parkers and Goadsby.
