IT’S astonishing how many classic hits are tucked away inside this show – and even if you weren’t aware where they came from on the way in, be prepared to be singing them all the way home!

Set in the 1800s, this colourful production from Wimborne Musical Theatre boasts glorious sets and costumes that would turn MGM Studios green, whisking the audience to one end of America and the other with cheerful abandon, from the wilderness of the Wild West to the glitz of Governor’s Island.

Lisa Hopton gives an energetic performance as Annie Oakley, the surest shot in the west, complemented by her disapproving suitor Frank Butler played by Phil Evans.

Brian Lodge and Karina McCormack make a delightful diversion as two star-crossed lovers, who fate luckily smiles a little kinder upon than Romeo and Juliet, and when they steal their moments together there is a cheeky warmth between the pair that sets the stage aglow. It easy to see why Winnie would be wooed by the charms of Tommy when he starts to sing, and he’s not too shabby on his feet either when he takes to the dance floor!

Andy Trant gives a gentle performance as the Dick Van Dyke-esque Charlie Davenport, sporting an incredibly dapper suit for every occasion. He is partnered by a sassy Pam Mizon, playing the disgruntled Dolly Tate.

It is the endearing Big Chief Sitting Bull however who steals the limelight every time he appears, played perfectly by David Elliott, who wears this part snug as a worn-in moccasin.
