SHOW REVIEW

THAT’LL BE THE DAY

Weymouth Pavilion

TREVOR Payne and the gang are still going strong 30 years after they first launched their all-singing, all-dancing tribute show that celebrates pop songs of the past.

From Dusty to Dionne and from the Beatles to Buddy, the iconic stars from the 60s and 70s are brought back with enthusiasm and skill by the 12 piece group who keep the pace going non stop throughout an evening of fun and laughter.

The old jokes just keep going as Gary tries yet again to do his Roy Orbison rendering of Pretty Woman and does he succeed?

And how did Donald Trump get into the act? That would be telling!

With video footage projections of the original artists appearing on screen, there is never a dull moment as the music of the swinging sixties bring back memories of the past.

From the young Elvis to hand jiving and the birth of rock ‘n roll, the brilliant band perform brilliantly, not to mention the now obligatory drum duo that always brings the audience to their feet.

As old favourites from the seventies took over, everyone joined in singing with Tom Jones and Neil Diamond in a show just keeps on going and long may it continue.

There are further performances at Bournemouth Pavilion from September 6 until the 9 and again on the 13 until the 16, while it returns to Weymouth on September 26 before the new Autumn tour kicks off in November at the Octagon, Yeovil.

Be there, if they can get up and go, so can we.
