On Saturday night the popular Boscombe venue, The Cellar Bar was host to Bournemouth Rock Band Voodoo Vegas.

Support band was the Blusey Rock Duo, Dirty Shingles. Another local band, Rich and Mart really warmed the crowd up well with songs such as Getting out of hell and Too much pressure. They have just released a Debut Album which is definitely worth getting. Raw bluesy rock at its best. They hyped the crowd up well for Headliners Dirty Vegas.

There was a good crowd ready and waiting and Voodoo Vegas starting the set with the storming Hypnotise. Lawrence has such a powerful voice and a commanding stage presence and is at home on the stage. He has a versatile range and is perfect with the harmonica too. The duel guitars of Meryl and Jon were outstanding. There are very few female guitarists who have the talent Meryl does. Bassist Ash and drummer Mike were amazing and the band gel together so well.

Voodoo Vegas played a thundering set list including Tied up, Bullet, Resolution, Walk Away and the awesome Black Heart Woman kept the crowd up and moving. Lawrence is a great frontman who interacts well with the Audience. The band have a mix of classic and modern rock that just works. They have even realised an acoustic single, Sleeping in the Rain, in aid of Shelter.

There wasn’t a moment that the audience didn’t love. Everyone was up and moving throughout the set. They finished with the classic Jimmy Silver but both the crowd and the band could have rocked for another hour. The cellar bar was the perfect venue. Why Voodoo Vegas aren’t headlining Arenas is beyond me.

This is a band with quality tracks and solid musicians. If they are around please go and support them, they tour all over Europe and they should be getting recognition for their performances in the UK.
