LUNCHTIME CHAMBER CONCERT
ST MARY'S CHURCH, WEYMOUTH
THE Southampton Piano Trio - Anca Campanie, violin, Paul Cox, cello, and Duncan Honeybourne, piano, - is new, great, and full of joy.
The music they played most beautifully was 20th century and relatively little known.
Joan Trimble's Phantasie Trio (1940) - absolutely gorgeous with the most perfectly peaceful ending.
Sant-Saers' four movement sonata in F major leaped along at a tremendous pace with an enormous expenditure of energy - especially from Duncan! And finally, John Ireland's deeply romantic one-movement trio gave full scope to the richness of tone of the string players.
*The next lunchtime concert is at St Mary's Church, Weymouth, between 1pm and 2pm on Wednesday April 12, featuring Frantisek Brikcius on cello and Duncan Honeybourne on piano.
