Celebrating twenty years on the road the Illegal Eagles were in Poole on Thursday night to deliver their very own tribute to the music of one of the greatest and biggest selling bands of all time.

When you go and see a tribute band you can be pretty assured that the set list will always include the biggest hits so for me there are only two things that are normally up for debate, what lesser know tracks are included to keep the rhythm of the evening flowing and of course the quality of the delivery.

Well these guys have nailed both of these elements and tonight was a testament to the individual and collective skill of the players on stage and the quality of material produced by the Eagles.

The musicianship was spot on and the harmonies were excellent resulting in a packed out Lighthouse crowd seeing the nearest to the original Eagles that they are likely to see anywhere.

The evening was split into two halves with each part containing a fair few crowd pleasers in each section.

If I had to choose particular highlights then an excellent version of Up All Night, the Don Henley Solo Hit Boys of Summer and show closer Desperado would be on the list but the quality of the show was such that every song was right up there alongside those three.

It would be fair to say that the majority of the crowd was of a certain age but there were enough younger fans there to indicate that the music of The Eagles has a broader appeal and will live on for many years to come.

And if you missed them this time round don't worry because they are playing the Bournemouth Pavilion in April and they are well worth the price of a ticket.
