ABBA REVIVAL

Weymouth Pavilion

THANK you for the music – that was the reaction from the enthusiastic audience to this tribute show which gave a faithful rendition of the top hits from Sweden’s favourite pop group.

Revival successfully recreated the famous four, supplemented by a drummer and additional guitarist, as the two girl singers belted out golden songs like Fernando, Dancing Queen and Mamma Mia not to mention Waterloo which launched Abba to worldwide stardom way back in 1974.

Complete with kinky boots and sexy frocks, the girls brought back memories for an audience which needed no second invitation to sing and dance their way through an evening of much loved top of the pops favourites of the past, helped along by the lively accompaniment of the four talented musicians.

With the original arrangements performed intact, the musical evening highlighted the impact that the Swedish group had on the quality of the pop era of the 1970s which has lasted until the present day.

However, it should be added that the maximum volume blasting through the sound system was not to everyone’s taste, less being sometimes regarded as more.

Nevertheless Revival - just one of numerous tribute Abba acts touring the world - captured the joyous flavour of the early musical compositions of Bjorn and Benny, tactfully omitting their later works which highlighted their marriage breakups.

They have promised to return to Weymouth at some future date and will certainly receive a warm welcome if they do.
