IT is fun and laughter all the way in one of the happiest pantos to grace the Bournemouth Pavilion stage.

From the moment the curtain rises on this perfectly targeted family show we are swept along by mad-cap comedy and magical mayhem of this festive stunner.

Given that two of its star players are best known for roles in the dreariest of soap operas EastEnders the joy and exuberance they created was quite a revelation!

In fact, this is am extremely well cast show. Gillian Wright, best known as The Square's Jean Slater, was a fabulously mean, vain, frustrated Wicked Queen, resplendent in green sequinned frock cut to reveal a suspender wearing leg, who hilariously battles but fails to charm the handsome prince with plenty of cheeky innuendo. When she transforms herself into the hook -nosed old lady to trick Snow White into eating the poison apple the booming thick EastEnder accent works a treat.

Fellow EastEnder Matt Lapinskas who played Anthony Moon in the BBC soap also shines as the dashing prince. His Snow White, Olivia Birchenough, best known for presenting Channel 5's children's show Milkshake!, is also perfect as the happy, smiling, pretty girl whose dream finally comes true despite the chaos around her.

Central to the show's success, however, is the jester in the pack Noel Brodie as Muddles who commands the audience with his great comedy patter and timing . And alongside him is another great comic talent Quinn Patrick as the buxom " large and in charge" Nurse Dolly.

The pair conjure up some wonderful comedy routines which had the audience in hysterics.

And then, of course, we have the seven dwarfs who make the fairytale complete.

The popular Disney songs including Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho, Whistle While You Work and I'm Wishing make it truly magical but there are some uplifting current pop tunes that had the children dancing in the aisles too, from Fight Song to Shut up and Dance.

Ample audience participation, slap-stick comedy, enchanting sets, and wonderful dance numbers from Bournemouth's Stage Door School of Dance and Drama all add up to the perfect fun-filled family panto!
