IN keeping with its frosty surroundings, Bournemouth Pavilion was filled with sparkles and ice as the world famous Russian Ice Stars recreated the classic fairytale of Snow White.

As the music struck up, we watched as our heroine - possibly the most fragile and perfect Snow White I had ever seen - swept across the frozen stage.

The Russian Ice Stars are as beautiful as they are talented and it was amazing to see them performing daring jumps, dizzying spins and even aerial gymnastics on a stage transformed into an ice rink.

All the well known characters were there - The wicked queen, the huntsman and of course Snow White.

And best of all, as far as my little ones were concerned - the seven dwarfs - a hilarious rabble of axe-wielding ice dancers, who fell instantly in love with their beautiful but very frightened new house guest.

Snow White On Ice is narrated by the bubbly Rustie Lee who brought her own charm and infectious, throaty laugh to proceedings.

During a 'chat' with the show's two heroic ducks, Foie and Gras, she had the audience in fits as she tried to interpret their quacking.

But there was also plenty of drama as Snow White fell victim to her evil step mother's attempts to harm her - first with a corset, then a poisoned comb and finally the poisoned apple.

Snow White On Ice was a spectacular way to spend a cold, January evening and we went back out into the cold night glowing from what we had just seen.
