THIS is indie pop at its finest.
Bright, breezy and gutsy, London-based Allo Darlin’ have produced a wonderfully listenable third album.
But some of the songs from this Anglo-Australian band sound a little too similar for my liking.
I love the fact that singer Elizabeth Morris’s Aussie twang is discernible on all the songs, maintaining this band’s distinctive identity whilst borrowing from some of the best indie pop of the last 12 months – think Rilo Kiley singer Jenny Lewis. The contemplative Santa Maria Novella is a longing tune about feeling out of place while Angela has some beautiful guitar riffs.
The duet Bright Eyes is my favourite track on the album, full of energy, pace and passion.
