IT is easy to say a concert was good but more difficult to say it was outstanding or amazing but Bryan Adams’ Bare Bones at the BIC was just that - amazing. If you take some of the rawest of natural talents from one of the world’s greatest rock musicians and add in a selection of his best known songs stripped down to one man, his guitar and the occasional accompaniment of a pianist, you have one amazing evening. Without all the frills of backing singers, drummers, bass guitarist, lighting and special effects you are left with what felt like an intimate moment between the performer and a select few who really appreciated the calibre of this performance. Bryan Adams is the consummate entertainer and crowd pleaser, without seeming to draw breath he delivered songs from his 30 year career that still felt fresh and of-the-moment as they did first time around. Not one of my fellow concert goers would have cause to say that what we saw had been seen before. But when you have a back catalogue with this pedigree you would always be spoilt for choice and to leave the later part of the evening to requests from the audience was not brave but inspired and Bryan was more than happy to play an unrehearsed selection of his songs. The auditorium heaved with an enthusiasm for this man’s talent. My one and only criticism would be that the evening was over much too soon.
