lT WAS a perfect weekend of weather ensured that Forever Sun lived up to its name.

Now in its second year, the Came Down estate festival attracted some big names yet continues to champion local bands and those on the verge of breaking through.

I watched most of the Alleys’ set on the main stage, a rock ‘n’ roll band from Carlisle who, I was delighted to see, incorporated a saxophone and harmonica into some of their songs.

Their number Higher was particularly uplifting and suited to the festival’s optimistic vibe.

I was impressed with Forever Sun’s tidy site and attentive and friendly staff, but felt that the festival was aimed at a slightly older crowd.

The atmosphere at this up-and-coming festival, styled as a mini Reading or Glastonbury, was overwhelmingly friendly and has set expectations very high for next year.
