AT the last Gary Barlow concert I went to there was a marriage proposal live on stage and comedian James Corden turned up to join in a song and dance routine.

So this show had a lot to live up to. But from the moment the Take That frontman - and now successful solo star in his own right - sat down at the piano, I knew it was going to be a great night.

The 4,000-strong crowd at the BIC clearly thought so too, raising the roof for the last night of Gary's Since I Saw You Last UK tour.

From Take That favourites such as Pray and Back For Good, to some of Gary's first solo offerings including Forever Love and Lie To Me, the night was packed with hits.

It must get tiring having to roll out the Take That back catalogue again and again, so this time there was a swing section, with fantastic new arrangements of classics like Everything Changes and Could It Be Magic, and there was jealousy all round when lucky, lucky Leanne was pulled up on stage for a personal serenade of A Million Love Songs.

Gary's more recent tunes, including Since I Saw You Last, Let Me Go and Face To Face were equally well received, proving he's still got what it takes to churn out the hits, and that he doesn't need celebrity guests to make the night one to remember, he can do that all on his own.
