McFLy, Busted - Busted, McFly. If I'm honest, I was never particularly good at working out which noughtie guitar band was which.

And that's why the birth of McBusted is such a genius idea. You get cute little Tom Fletcher AND crazy Matt Willis. You get Year 3000 AND All About You.

All those raucous, catchy hits and you don't have to worry about who's who and who sang what. Genius!

The 'supergroup' idea is nothing new and it would be easy to be cynical about the band members' motives.

But in all seriousness, McBusted is a combination that works - a merger that was meant to be. And nobody who watched this all-action, frenetic and exhilarating BIC show could possibly disagree with that.

Busted departed from the music scene in 2004 when Charlie Simpson decided he wanted out and he is the only band member not to be part of the new supergroup.

But Matt Willis and James Bourne looked like they had a new lease of life, their joy at being back on stage shone through.

Together with McFly's Tom, Dougie, Harry and Danny, they rattled through both bands' top hits, including What I Go To School For, Air Hostess and Shine A Light, they jumped around, wrestled each other and played and sung as though their lives depended on it.

The vocals were surprisingly strong and didn't suffer at all from the energetic performance.

And the set was inventive, with a great Back To The Future-inspired introduction and some below stage wizardry that enabled the boys to pop up from nowhere.

This was no hastily thrown together tour, with faded stars going through the motions. This was top-class entertainment and Bournemouth was more than happy to party like it was 2004.
